Therapeutic Approaches
These 3 modalities are interwoven in therapy to support healing of both mind and body.
Psychodynamic
Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT)
Somatic (body)
Psychodynamic therapy supports you in uncovering and understanding unresolved conflicts and past experiences that influence your current experiences in life. In-depth exploration of thoughts, memories, and experiences starting from childhood aim to create a path of healing in the present.
Compassion-focused therapy (CFT) aims to help you develop a balance between your threat, drive, and soothing systems so that you can break out of the cycles of shame, self-criticism, and self-doubt. In CFT, self-compassion is a form of motivation cultivated to alleviate internal distress, create intentional connections with self and others, and take action toward meaningful behaviors.
Somatic therapy focuses on your physical body with the goal of supporting the regulation of your nervous system. Rather than simply focusing on a “top-down” approach where cognitive experiences are prioritized, somatic therapy focuses on a “bottom-up” approach where addressing the nervous system through the body is prioritized to address cognitive symptoms.
